Prizm Orange Ice RCs on the rise? Yup. At the start of 2020, the Zion Williamson Prizm Orange Ice RC BGS 9.5 was selling around $425. Two days ago, the average auction sale was $890, up over 100%. The next sale? Who knows what it will be after Zion dropped his first 30 point game of his career on Tuesday night. The sales data is a mix of auctions, buy-it-nows, and best offers accepted, but one thing consistent is it omits all true-gem or higher (all 9.5 sub-grades or higher) sales. This is to attempt to keep the data as representative as possible of what the trend actually is.
Back when Prizm came out, the Orange Ice RCs were hot out of the gate, outselling its Pink and Red counterparts. Since the start of the new year, they aren’t just hot, they’re scorching. Bouncing around to the other dominate rookie, the Ja Morant Prizm Orange Ice has went up 200% since Jan 1, while the Pink Ice have only went up 33%. For Zion, the Purple Wave SP BGS 9.5 and Orange Ice BGS 9.5 are valued at about the same; however, the BGS POP report for the Purple Wave is about 20% of the Orange Ice. There might be some value in picking up the Purple Wave before the Orange Ice, but keep in mind, demand plays a larger part in determining value… not just supply.
